I'm feeling:: tired
Let's get some things straight: I love The Fifth Element. Really, truly, it is one of my favorite movies and I adore watching it. However, what I do not enjoy is the fact that certain other people who seem to love it too choose to abuse it so badly.
STOP IT. SERIOUSLY. You cannot take Character X and give him all of Bruce Willis's lines and Character Y and give her all of Mila Jovovich's lines and call it an homage or a retelling or whatever. I'm seen this done with InuYasha/Kagome, Jack/Ianto, and probably something else that I can't remember. When you have Jack/InuYasha saying everything Bruce Willis said, all you have is John Barrowman/a 500+ year old dog demon playing Corbin Dallas.
Oh, and this: "Yes I know some of the speech for Ianto is not correct and this was another really visual thing which is really hard to do. So sorry" does not make me want to read more.
Minor irritant, J&W fandom, but irksome every time I see it:
I know not everyone sees Fry and Laurie when they see the characters, but I also know that a lot of people do, as well, and it's a little bothersome to keep running across stories where Bertie is looking up at Jeeves/leaning up to kiss him/marveling at his height, etc. Stephen Fry is, according to IMDB, 6' 4½" (1.94 m). Hugh Laurie is 6' 2½" (1.89 m). Let me tell you, as someone who is within 3 inches in height with most of her friends, a two inch gap is rarely going to be noticeable in day-to-day life. I know Jeeves is very impressive and looms and has a great presence and all that jazz, but really. It's 2 inches. Please to be not conforming to the idea that one must be "the smaller man," okay?
