Ronald Weasley – Stubborn. Quick-tempered. Brash. Bold. Adventurous.

Hermione Granger – Smart. Quiet. Well-mannered. Polite.

Obviously, we're very different people, but didn't someone once say opposites attract? I can't remember who, I should look that up. It might come in handy. Anyway, the author of that quote seems to be correct because, different as we are, I'm in love with Ron Weasley. Not one of those silly little schoolgirl crushes Lavender and Parvarti have on a new boy every week. This is honest to goodness love.

Most people would be overjoyed to be in love. However most people aren't in love with their best friends. It doesn't take a genius to figure out how potentially damaging this situation could be.

If I tell Ron I love him and he doesn't return my feelings, it could ruin our friendship. And by ruining my friendship with Ron, I would certainly harm, if not completely ruin, my Friendship with Harry too. Harry's always gotten along slightly better with Ron, so if Ron stopped talking to me, Harry would probably stop talking to me too. Not that he's that mean, its just I know Harry enjoys Ron's company more than mine, so, given a choice between us, he would probably choose Ron. Actually, that's incorrect. Knowing Harry, he would go to Ron and me and try to get us to speak again. And, knowing Ron and me, we would eventually start speaking again, for Harry's sake, but our friendship would never be the same. All because I confessed my love to Ron.

"I didn't know you kept a diary," Ron said from his position looking over her shoulder, "Of course, even if I had I would never have expected you to write such pessimistic things."

"RON!" Hermione screamed, before switching to a lower tone as not to interrupt anyone studying, "I can't believe you were reading my diary. It contains my innermost thoughts and ---"

"Your innermost thoughts? Your innermost thoughts!?"

"Ron don't yell ---"

"I will yell if I bloody well want!" Ron roared, before lowering his voice, "And before you tell me not to curse, I will curse if I damn well please. This isn't about me, this is about you. Tell me, while you were doing all this thinking, did it ever occur to you to think about what might happen if I told you I loved you too?"

"I'm sorry, what?" Hermione didn't know what to say, a rare feeling for her.

"I said, I, as in Ronald Weasley, love, as in feel affection for, adore, am devoted to, you, Hermione Granger."

Hermione was still too stunned to speak, not that it mattered much after Ron leant down and kissed her.

Harry watched the entire exchange from his spot in front of the fireplace. 'I was wondering how long it would take for them to do that. I hope this means they'll stop bickering so much. The tension was driving us all crazy. Looks like Seamus won the bet though.' Harry thought turning back to his Transfiguration homework, 'But let's hope they don't stop fighting entirely. Then our only entertainment will be watching Neville botch his homework (always interesting to watch) or actually studying. That would be horrible.'
